Overview

A single use camera, loaded at the workshop with 24 exposures of the same Z emulsion — an industrially coated aerial-survey stock that Film Washi buys in and re-converts to camera formats — and fitted with a built-in flash. The film is rated 400 ISO on a clear 100 µm polyester base with a spectral maximum of 750 nm: panchromatic with a near-infrared tail, so foliage records bright, skies record dark and contrast is strong. Because it arrives loaded, the shade-loading routine that the roll requires is not your problem; the clear base still pipes light, which is why Film Washi's UK retailer sells this camera as “24 + 3 exposures” and why it is worth keeping it out of direct sun between frames. What is inside is black and white film, not C-41, so tell your lab that when you hand it in — Film Washi asks customers to check with their lab in advance only for films W, V, Y and R, and Z is not one of them. If you process it yourself, the datasheet gives D-76 stock 10 min, Xtol stock 8 min, Rodinal 1+25 7 min and Ilfosol 3 1+9 4.5 min at 20 °C, Ilfotec RT Rapid undiluted 70 s at 26 °C, and Ilford Delta 400 times in any other developer; the film must be handled in total darkness, with no safelight of any colour. Lens focal length, aperture, shutter speed and flash range are not published by Film Washi, so we do not list them.

Common questions

Questions about this product

Are enlarger lens boards and negative carriers interchangeable?

No — they are specific to the enlarger maker and model. Check the compatibility notes in each product's specifications, or contact us with your enlarger model before ordering.

How do I choose a darkroom timer?

For enlarging, second-precision exposure control matters most. For film and print processing, a timer that can step through multiple stages is the practical choice.
