What is the difference between RC and FB paper?
RC (resin-coated) paper processes, washes, and dries quickly, which suits contact sheets and work prints. FB (fiber-base) paper offers richer tonality and archival permanence for exhibition prints, but needs longer washing and drying.
How do I choose paper contrast?
Variable-contrast paper covers roughly grade 0-5 with multigrade filters and is the most flexible choice. Graded papers are typically stocked around grade 2-3 as the standard contrast.
What safelight can I use with printing paper?
Conventional black-and-white papers can be handled under a red or amber (OA) safelight. Color and panchromatic papers must be handled in complete darkness — always check the product's data sheet.
How should I store unused paper?
Return unused sheets to the light-tight bag and box, and keep them cool and dry. Heat and humidity accelerate base fog.
