Overview

In the box: the Paterson tank body with its watertight EVA cap, the AGO-modified funnel already drilled with the three holes chemistry pours through, plus the lid and agitation rod — no drilling and no template needed. The 3-, 5- and 8-reel tanks ship without reels, so add Paterson Auto-Load reels (adjustable for 35mm, 126, 127, 120 and 220), a Vintage Visual REEL 110 for 110 film, or a sheet-film REEL as needed. This size takes up to three roll-film reels, or one 4×5 or 9×12cm REEL holding up to four sheets. On the AGO the minimum chemistry volume is 450 ml for roll film and 350 ml with a 4×5 or 9×12cm REEL, and with the 4×5 reel the listed volume has to be followed accurately. The AGO can agitate it rotary (horizontal) or vertically with the stick, but time compensation only runs in rotary mode — in vertical mode the temperature probe does not sit in the liquid, so compensation is switched off. Rotary agitation uses up to 60% less chemistry than traditional vertical or inversion agitation methods. The 5×7 and Paper 5 REELs need a Paterson 5-reel tank or larger, so step up a size if 5×7, 8×10 or RA-4 prints are on your list. Without the AGO it behaves as an ordinary Paterson tank for hand inversion development.

Common questions

Questions about this product

Are enlarger lens boards and negative carriers interchangeable?

No — they are specific to the enlarger maker and model. Check the compatibility notes in each product's specifications, or contact us with your enlarger model before ordering.

How do I choose a darkroom timer?

For enlarging, second-precision exposure control matters most. For film and print processing, a timer that can step through multiple stages is the practical choice.
