Paterson Super System 4 Developing Tank 2-Reel (AGO-Modified Funnel)

Universal developing tank / 2 x 35mm or 1 x 120 / AGO-modified funnel included

The Paterson Super System 4 two-reel universal tank (PTP115), supplied with an AGO-modified funnel: three holes in the side of the funnel, as AGO operation requires, so the tank can go on an AGO Film Processor exactly as it arrives. It takes two 35mm rolls or one 120 roll, and 127 and 220 load onto the same reels. It is also an ordinary Paterson tank, so hand inversion development works just as well.

Overview

In the box: the tank body, the centre column, two Paterson reels that adjust from 35mm to 120 width, the watertight lid, the agitation rod, and the AGO-modified funnel. Vintage Visual has already drilled the three holes AGO operation requires, so there is no drilling for you to do. With AGO, the minimum chemistry volume for this tank is 350 ml; hand inversion needs more, because the film has to stay fully covered. Rotary (horizontal) agitation uses up to 60% less chemistry than traditional vertical or inversion agitation methods. On AGO the tank can run either way: horizontally for rotary agitation, or vertically with the agitation stick for chemistry that does not tolerate continuous agitation. One point worth knowing: AGO's time compensation is active in rotary (horizontal) mode only. In vertical / stick mode the temperature probe does not sit in the liquid, so compensation is switched off. The reels must be completely dry before you load film, so rinse the tank and dry it thoroughly after every session. This is the same tank that is supplied in the AGO complete kit, which makes it an easy second tank if you already own an AGO.

Common questions

Questions about this product

Are enlarger lens boards and negative carriers interchangeable?

No — they are specific to the enlarger maker and model. Check the compatibility notes in each product's specifications, or contact us with your enlarger model before ordering.

How do I choose a darkroom timer?

For enlarging, second-precision exposure control matters most. For film and print processing, a timer that can step through multiple stages is the practical choice.
