Paterson Measuring Graduate 600ml

Cylindrical measuring graduate / 600ml / metric, Imperial and US scales

A 600ml transparent graduate for measuring and mixing working solution in the darkroom. Paterson makes the graduate in five sizes - 45, 150, 300, 600 and 1200ml - and this is the 600ml (PTP304), an easy size for measuring out one tank's worth of film developing.

Overview

Paterson graduates are moulded from transparent polystyrene under strictly controlled conditions, so the calibration stays accurate. The cylindrical laboratory shape leaves the markings widely separated and easy to read under a safelight, and each graduate is calibrated in metric, Imperial and US scales. The body itself is resistant to most photographic chemicals. For rotary processing on the AGO film processor, the minimum chemistry volumes published by Vintage Visual are 250ml for the one-reel PTP114, 350ml for the two-reel PTP115 and 450ml for the three-reel PTP116, so all three can be measured here in a single fill. The five-reel PTP117 needs 650ml, just past this graduate, so measure it in two goes or use the 1200ml PTP305. Methods other than rotary processing call for more solution than those minimums, so always measure to the volume your own process specifies. Keeping one graduate per chemistry - developer, stop bath, fixer - is the simplest way to avoid cross-contamination.

Common questions

Questions about this product

How do I choose negative sleeves?

For 135 film the standard page holds 7 strips of 6 frames; for 120, pages hold 3-4 strips. For long-term storage choose acid-free material that passes the Photographic Activity Test (PAT).

What size trays do I need?

Use trays one size larger than your paper, and plan on 3-4: developer, stop bath, fixer, and a holding/wash tray.
