Paterson Measuring Graduate 1200ml

Darkroom measuring graduate / 1200 ml / metric, Imperial and US scales

The largest of Paterson's five measuring graduates, moulded in transparent polystyrene and calibrated in metric, Imperial and US scales. It is the size to reach for when a single working volume runs close to a litre — diluting working solution from a concentrate, or mixing one bath at a time for a long processing session.

Overview

Paterson uses the same cylindrical laboratory form across the range, so the markings are uniform and widely separated and the liquid level stays easy to read; the polystyrene is resistant to most photographic chemicals. Three scales are moulded in, so a formula written in millilitres or in ounces can be followed without converting. For AGO Film Processor users, one fill covers the volumes on AGO's own minimum-chemistry chart for rotary (horizontal) processing — 950 ml for an eight-reel Paterson PTP118 and 650 ml for a five-reel PTP117 — both with room to spare. Those are AGO's rotary minimums, not the capacity of the tanks themselves; if you develop without an AGO, go by your tank's own rated capacity. This is a measuring and mixing vessel rather than a storage container, so decant anything you intend to keep into a proper storage bottle. Rinse and dry it after each session, and keep boiling water and dishwashers away from it.

Common questions

Questions about this product

How do I choose negative sleeves?

For 135 film the standard page holds 7 strips of 6 frames; for 120, pages hold 3-4 strips. For long-term storage choose acid-free material that passes the Photographic Activity Test (PAT).

What size trays do I need?

Use trays one size larger than your paper, and plan on 3-4: developer, stop bath, fixer, and a holding/wash tray.
