Overview

ILFOCOLOR RA4 COLORPAPER is a silver-halide colour paper for the darkroom, not an inkjet or digital-exposure material. ILFORD describes a neutral white base and moderate contrast that suits a wide range of subjects, with a smooth surface and good image permanence. The base is 210µm polyethylene-coated paper and the process is RA-4, using ILFOCOLOR ACPII or equivalent chemistry. Handle in total darkness — no safelight. Store unopened below 10°C and bring the paper back to room temperature before use, since condensation shifts the colour balance.

For contact sheets, proofing, and final prints.

Common questions

Questions about this product

What is the difference between RC and FB paper?

RC (resin-coated) paper processes, washes, and dries quickly, which suits contact sheets and work prints. FB (fiber-base) paper offers richer tonality and archival permanence for exhibition prints, but needs longer washing and drying.

How do I choose paper contrast?

Variable-contrast paper covers roughly grade 0-5 with multigrade filters and is the most flexible choice. Graded papers are typically stocked around grade 2-3 as the standard contrast.
